Originally from Chicago, I'm no stranger to hard work and perseverance. I have 16 years of experience encompassing a combination of philanthropy, marketing and communications, partnerships, nonprofit management, digital, and business strategy for both corporations and causes. My passions are social impact, advocacy and coalition building. A citizen of the world, you'll find me organizing movements both close to home and as far as Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. I love all things Disney, I'm digging the concept of "New Power," I'm trying to get back to nature after living in the big city for years and now relocating to the heartland, and am particularly fond of youth and humanitarian causes.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I cut my teeth in the media and publishing industries starting out at Hearst Magazines and went on to lead marketing and outreach at Black Enterprise as their Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships. I led national and diversity marketing as a Managing Director at Teach For America, in addition to managing community, celebrity and corporate partnerships for the nonprofit, and most recently served as Director, Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility at Comcast NBCUniversal. I also had the pleasure of teaching undergrads Business and PR at Fordham University.
WHAT I DO
I'm currently head of associate and customer engagement with Walmart.org where I'm responsible for volunteerism, giving, partnerships and community engagement through the philanthropic arm of the Fortune 1 enterprise. I speak at various events and conferences on topics of CSR, leadership, empowerment, etc., and teach Digital Marketing and Integrated Marketing for graduate students at New York University as an Adjunct Professor. I've also consulted both individuals and organizations on positioning, diversity and citizenship through my agency Myles Ahead Consulting.
