ABOUT
ABOUT ME
Originally from Chicago, I'm no stranger to hard work and perseverance. I have nearly two decades of experience encompassing a combination of philanthropy, marketing and communications, partnerships, nonprofit management, digital, DEI, and business strategy for both corporations and causes. My passions are social impact, advocacy and coalition building. A citizen of the world, you'll find me organizing missions both close to home and as far as Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. I love all things Disney, I'm digging into more fiction books lately, and I'm trying to get back to nature now that I've relocated to the heartland. I sit on several nonprofit boards, with a particularly fondness for youth and humanitarian causes. I also aspire to be on a corporate board in the next few years, to help further drive purpose and shared value with business.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I cut my teeth in the media and publishing industries starting out at Hearst Magazines and went on to lead marketing and outreach at Black Enterprise as their Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships. I led national and diversity outreach as a Managing Director at Teach For America (TFA), in addition to managing community, celebrity and corporate partnerships, and also served as Director, Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility at Comcast NBCUniversal. As an Adjunct Professor, I had the pleasure of teaching undergrads Business and PR at Fordham University and Digital Marketing and Integrated Marketing to graduate students at New York University (NYU).
WHAT I DO
In early 2020, I joined Walmart to lead customer and associate engagement where I was responsible for giving, volunteerism, partnerships and community activations. In 2021 I transitioned to a new role, still within Walmart.org, helping steer our commitment to racial justice as Director, Center for Racial Equity. Occasionally I speak at various events and conferences on topics like CSR, leadership, empowerment, etc., but I really love channeling my inner Oprah and moderating. I've also consulted both individuals and organizations on positioning, diversity and corporate citizenship through my own agency, Myles Ahead Consulting.
